With the launch of its 10th season, 5 Colour Fitness is celebrating 2 years of daily programming on SuperSport, making it one the most prolific fitness and lifestyle programs in the country. But the showrunners are dedicated to extending their influence into areas where they can affect tangible positive change.
FHA: Fitness Health Active, the company that produces 5 Colour Fitness, is pushing to create awareness around Markus du Plessis, a four-year-old boy diagnosed with Spastic Cerebral Palsy, whose family has been fundraising for surgery that will allow him to walk.
FHA CEO, Berne van Zyl, remarked that “We want to make a difference in people’s lives, and when we heard about Markus’ story we felt we needed to do something.”
Which is exactly what FHA did. Not only has FHA donated to Markus’ cause, but they are also urging others to get involved through the 5 Colour Fitness 10 for 10 Challenge.
5 Colour Fitness trainers are pledging to do 10 squats for every R100 donated to Markus and encouraging fans and friends of the show to do the same.
Van Zyl continued, “We need to keep investing in each other – big or small. Even the smallest of gestures can change someone’s life.”
You can also commit to the 10 for 10 challenge on social media with #movingformarkus. Pay it forward by getting involved in the challenge, donating on Back a Buddy (backabuddy.co.za/masrkusduplessis) or buying some @shake_and_bake_pancakes – all proceeds of which go towards Markus’ surgery.
“We want to ignite a culture of inclusion,” said van Zyl. “FHA is all about positive transformation. And the more lives FHA and 5 Colour Fitness can change for the better, the more we are achieving our goals.”
FHA: Fitness Health Active started up in the early days of lockdown and has slowly become a lifestyle juggernaut in South Africa, with over 40 000 followers on Instagram and over 250 episodes of 5 Colour Fitness airing globally.
“We never could have predicted the influence FHA would have in South Africa – but having influence is also a responsibility. And with the 10 for 10 Challenge, we are wielding our influence wisely.”
Catch Season 10 of 5 Colour Fitness at 07h00 and 17h00 on SuperSport Variety 4, Channel 209, and on Catch Up and Showmax. The show has added some new surprises including the “Golden Buzzer”. And if you don’t know what that it, you’ll have to watch to find out.
