A TALE OF TWO CITIES – 5 COLOUR FITNESS
23 August 2021 | Bringing two cities together to motivate and encourage South Africans is the reason the 5 Colour Fitness TV show filmed its 6th season in Cape Town and Johannesburg. In addition, President Cyril Ramaphosa’a announcement of South Africa moving to a level 4 lockdown in June meant that the cast and crew could not easily move between provinces.
The 5 Colour Fitness show aired the first episode of its 6th season, 5 Colour Fitness – A Tale of Two Cities, today, 23 August 2021. Level 4 lockdown did not stop the show from being filmed for this season, but rather proved to bring two cities together to achieve one common goal, which is to help South Africans become fitter, healthier and more active. The show’s cast and crew met at the gorgeous 12 Apostles Hotel & Spa where the show was filmed in Cape Town, and in Johannesburg at the beautiful Cradle Boutique Hotel.
Executive Director for FHA, Berne van Zyl: “With numerous restrictions in place as the world experiences different variants of the Covid-19 virus, and with the number of cases rising in South Africa, it is difficult for one to achieve his or hers fitness goals. We were faced with many challenges during the level 4 lockdown, but we are passionate about making a difference and empowering South Africans to be fit and healthy. This is what helped us to come up with the idea of bringing two cities together in one show.”
The new season of this exciting and ‘colourful’ fitness show will broadcast from Monday to Sunday at 07h00 and again at 17h00 on SuperSport Variety 4, Channel 209. The show is also available on DStv Catch Up and Showmax as well as the FHA YouTube channel where you can view previous seasons.
The new season’s cast includes qualified personal trainers and guests, namely JP van der Schyff, Luyanda Sibisi, Christy Ann du Plessis, Talitha van Dyk, Lucas Mthenjane, Anver Alexander, Lelani Loots, Lucky Fadzi, Angela Gresham (based in New York), Weziwe Manikivane and Aretha Bauwens. The show was privileged to welcome well-known fitness enthusiasts as well, including Liezel van der Westhuizen and former SA Springbok athlete, Bertus de Klerk.
“We are very excited about this season and are eager to introduce a very special guest, Nyiko Chauke. Nyiko is a 5 Colour Fitness super fan who joined our movement the day we launched the first episode in July last year. We are proud to have her featured in the show and to be part of this season,” says Van Zyl.
Nyiko follows the 5 Colour Fitness regime every day on Super Sport and trains with her family from the comfort of her home. She says that the show helped her to be patient with her fitness goals, especially after having a knee injury in 2020 after which she had to restart and work at her own pace. “The show accommodates all fitness levels, emphasises the correct exercises and postures to avoid injuries and shares alot of tips for us South Africans to follow with ease,” she says of one of her favourite shows, adding that the shoot was a very exciting experience.
